Context Memo

edit

I chose to do triphenyl phosphate even though it is not closely related to my lit review because, in spite of some fairly well publicized study findings and an increasing interest from the scientific community and the public alike, the Wikipedia page had very little information, and even less that would be of interest to a casual reader. Therefore, my aim was to add more depth to the article, focusing mainly on toxicology and environmental fate and transport. These topics are especially noteworthy, though I also hope that expanding the article might attract some attention to it so that people will expand the other sections, which I was not as comfortable editing. Potentially, but not yet proven, hazardous compounds like triphenyl phosphate are especially tricky in that they attract a fair amount of attention, but are often surrounded by enough controversy and misinformation that it is difficult to get a clear picture. Because Wikipedia is often the first place most people look for information, it seems especially important that the article is useful, comprehensive, and unbiased. My goal was to push the article in that direction, and hopefully bring the topic to the attention of other editors so the can improve it further. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Awalsh621 (talkcontribs) 02:19, 9 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
