Why?

Take a look at User:Audacity/Welcome. It's a complicated template, and very neat. It took a long time to develop, and I'm proud of it. But I've completely stopped using it — I've been typing messages from scratch to welcome users instead of using my spiffy template. I've come to the conclusion that a personal touch is more important, or at least more sincere, than a nice template. So, the purpose of this page is to allow me, and anyone else who likes the message, to have a basic structure to use, but to allow the customization that makes a welcome truly welcoming.
