Now how about copying this informative list to List of redheads? -Shogun (talk) 04:21, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the LATE (late late) reply. Please see the AFD (2006). Unless you think you can convince the WP community that this indeed is a list that the world needs, it'll probably not actually ever be part of the mainspace. ~a (usertalkcontribs) 02:43, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

No conclusive proof about Biblical figures

edit

The notion that popular Biblical figures like Jesus of Nazareth, Judas Iscariot and Mary Magdalene were redheads comes from traditional European accounts, however no conclusive proof exists to say what any of these figures did or didn't look like. Virtually nothing from the Gospels or early Christian writings tells us what Jesus looked like, and likewise his disciples are never physically described. Red hair is rare in the Middle East, so it would have clearly set Jesus (as well as Judas and Mary Magdalene) apart from the rest of the disciples. The fact that Judas Iscariot needed to point Jesus out to the authorities in the Garden of Gethsemane proves that he looked like most people in that part of the world, otherwise they could have easily gone by the hair color. If anything, most Biblical characters were probably very dark haired and swarthy skinned.

If someone knows otherwise and wishes to provide citations, they may do so, however let's keep this list factually based. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.235.60.89 (talk) 00:43, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
