RESPONSE TO FLAMEVIPER
editMy intention is not to blatantly adverise. FurniFind.com is a free resource for shoppers and genereates no revenue whatsoever from consumer traffic. It has received significant press coverage in the NYC area and is well-known to many NYers as a helpful site for planning furniture purchases. What are your suggestions for contributing this entry to Wikipedia without it being considered spam? .
- Wikipedia should not be considered a resource for shoppers, no matter what the topic. Instead, it is an encyclopedia of knowledge about subjects, not a guide on where to shop for them or where to buy them. Commercial spammers are fond of parasitically linking to Wikipedia entries to further commercial gain. Others may feel that their commercial links are doing readers a favor, and in some cases that might be true. But a shoppers' guide for furniture appears to be only business-oriented marketing material and cannot in any way be considered encyclopedic knowledge. I'm glad that you are being civil and professional about the matter, but even though your intentions were not to advertise, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information or a shopping guide.
