Welcome edit

Hello, Anton B Dougall, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created was Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations, which appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself has been or will shortly be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, but if you want to use the content from it, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Crusio (talk) 14:04, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Here are 3 very important things you should know edit

Hi there, and welcome to Wikipedia. In order for you to become a productive member of the community, here's a bit of info regarding your recent edits to the project:

1. Please take a look here for the reasons why reprinting all or a substantial part of copyrighted works is prohibited here. This will be the second time I have removed a complete reprint of a newspaper article from the page Anton B. Dougall. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. If you add this material again, you will be blocked from editing.
2. You are currently using at least two accounts. On Wikipedia, this is called sock puppetry, and is pretty much forbidden. It's likely that you're using these separate accounts for one (or both) of two reasons:
a) You are unaware of this policy
b) You are attempting to evade the consequences of your previous warning.
Whatever the case, a message is being sent to administrators to limit your use to, at most, a single account.
3. You should know that writing articles about yourself is strongly discouraged here. That's because it is all but impossible for you to write about yourself from a neutral point of view, which is one of the cornerstones of this project. Don't worry though, if you are indeed a notable individual, eventually people who are not affiliated with you will contribute to the article.

Thanks for your attention. Steamroller Assault (talk) 14:29, 14 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
