Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Because Wikipedia does not allow any form of spam or other promotion of people, products, companies or other groups (even non-commercial or charitable ones). Using Wikipedia for such purposes will result in the blocking of the account involved. Please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for our policies about this.

In addition, user accounts are for individuals only, not for companies or groups or other collective editing. Your username should reflect this. Usernames that appear to be promotional (such as those that make reference to a company or product) violate our username policy and are typically blocked to enforce that policy.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Tell us what new username you want to use. Please make sure that your new username does not violate our username policy and check that it has not already been taken (click here to search).
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If instead you believe that you have been blocked by mistake (i.e., you have not in fact been using Wikipedia for promotional purposes), please write {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message box and replace the text "Your reason here" with the reason why. See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information.

{{unblock|Is then a new username Antofaya an acceptable username. My will to contribute is winding down because since opening the account today instead of a help from experienced users I have been threatened with bans, deletions, and blockages. Regardless of the fact that I do not intent or did not promote any commercial activities here. On the other hand I have already started my, I believe valuable, contributions to articles regarding geography of Northern Patagonian Ice Field. Thank you for a warm welcome.}} Antofaya Expeditions (talk) 20:59, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Sorry for the complications; our username policy doesn't allow the names of companies as usernames. I've taken a look at your edits, though, and you don't appear to be here for advertising, so I've asked User:Rdsmith4 to rename and unblock you. You should be able to edit now.

Request handled by: Hersfold (t/a/c) 21:58, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Thank you for your help. Wikipedia has hundred of pages of polices and copyright regulations which is hard for a newcomer like me to grasp at the first contact. This is why instead of instant punishing a guidance from experienced user is most welcome. Thank you again. Antofaya (talk) 22:57, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

User name edit

I can contribute pictures to Commons and Wikipedia to articles without any pictures but only if the pictures have a proper author copyright note on the image page: "Author: Antofaya Expeditions". A copyright note like "Author: niceUser456" will not do. If this is not acceptable under Wikipedia/Commons policy please let me know. I will stop submissions and slack for deletion what was so far contributed. Then I will ask you to delete/block my account. Thank you. Antofaya Expeditions (talk) 17:18, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think you should be able to contribute images under this name. Bearian (talk) 17:57, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately my account was blocked before I could do anything (20min after creation). Therefore I am not able to apply for username change or take any other action to resolve the issue. Antofaya Expeditions (talk) 19:35, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Not so; you can apply here for a user name change. I feel that you really want to contribute to the encyclopedia, and welcome this, but must tell you that after a successful name change you will not be allowed to edit articles where it appears you have a conflict of interest. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:20, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the information. I do not foresee many conflict of interest in the field of glaciology and geography of South America. :-) But who knows... Antofaya (talk) 22:57, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

IP Block edit

I was given a new, less controvercial, username and the block for my username was lifted. Unfortunately there is still block on my IP. Please help.

Oops. Sorry about that - you should be able to edit now. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:19, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
