I just thought I'll let you know I am extremely unhappy with the situation regarding University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University. I asked for the removal of the creation block on the page only to restore it as a redirect. Instead, an article, which was already removed eight times (!), and thus set as a create block, is recreated. Granted, the article was last removed in 2008, when the block was set. But it looks awfully bad when an article is released from block for a redirect after three years, and immediately someone creates it. I am still not sure how to handle it. Articles regarding departments of universities are frowned upon in general, and I'm not sure this is different. It would required very strong establishment as a separate institute by reliable sources. --Muhandes (talk) 08:52, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I understand your concern, but i must reiterate the fact that University Institute of Engineering and Technology is not a department but an 'Institute' with its own administrative powers. and it is considered as a separate institute. Kindly refer to the citations. The institute undoubtedly lies under the purview of Panjab University but it does not make it a department. UIET has more than 2000 students and 100 faculty members. Moreover, the rankings of UIET come as a separate college not as Panjab University. This is my first time i am writing a page, but i can provide you any information you require as references, but kindly be a bit more specific. I am going through all the related documents in wikipedia. I have not been able to establish what all is require to prove notability but i am sure that notability should not be an issue for this instituteAnshul Kashyap (talk) 14:56, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your addition to University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University has been removed, as it appears to have added c material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. At least some of the material was copy pasted from websites such as http://engg.entrancecorner.com/my-corner/gropus/viewgroup/133-UIET+Chandigarh+%28Panjab+University+Main+Campus%29.html

We take these things very seriously - please don't repeat it. Please also remove any material you copy pasted from other websites. Muhandes (talk) 09:00, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I am Sorry for the overlook,Earlier i really did not understand that even the Copying from the official site is a Copyright!.. New to it, but will learn quickly(hopefully)! :) Anshul Kashyap (talk) 15:28, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

As far as the Copyright from the site link http://engg.entrancecorner.com/my-corner/gropus/viewgroup/133-UIET+Chandigarh+%28Panjab+University+Main+Campus%29.html is concerned. The text in this site is directly taken from the official site of UIET and not Vice-versa And to tell you about the logo of Panjab University, University Institute of Panjab University is also about to release its own individual logo, thus meaning that it has a separate identity from Panjab University(talk) 25 June 2011 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.64.175.107 (talk) 13:51, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Seems like you forgot to log-in, please remember next time.
I don't see how it matters if the source is one website or another. Everything anyone publishes is considered copyrighted, unless permission is provided explicitly, please see Wikipedia:Copyrights.
As for the logo it is not an evidence of notability. Neither is the ranking, the rankings are full of technology departments. See WP:GNG, WP:ORG for what amounts to notability. --Muhandes (talk) 14:04, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
