Notability of "from the dark skys"

edit

A tag has been placed on "from the dark skys" requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accurizer (talk) 01:44, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

St. Helens, Oregon

edit

Please stop adding a link to your band (or your friends' band) in the St. Helens article. Unless your band is notable enough to have a Wikipedia article, it should not be in that section. Wikipedia is not here to help you promote your band. See WP:BAND for more information. Katr67 (talk) 23:11, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Its not my friends band; or my band. I have seen this band live over 20 times this year, and have been trying to come up with information on them and I cant find it anywhere. I took it upon myself to go and add information to the internet because I know Im not the only one going to all these shows that wants to be able to find something more then what their myspace says. I met these guys at their first concert, and just fell in love with the music, but I dont know them personally.

I think they are notable to the Portland music scene if they have a large following; which they do; I put them in the St. Helens Oregon as a notable resident because it is a small town of about 10,000 people; and from the dark skys has over 300 fans here from the ages of 17 to 24; they may not be known outside of oregon which is why I agree that the main article I wrote giving them their own page isnt notable, but as far as known in St. Helens, they sure are! For being a band for less then a year and having a crowd of 500+ following your every move and people throwing money at them, that is notable. Theres about 5 other metal bands I know of in St. Helens, and they are nothing compared to FTDS.
