Speedy deletion of Laxmi Prashad Devkota

edit

A tag has been placed on Laxmi Prashad Devkota requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I believe that "greatest Nepalese poet" does provide notability, but when creating an article you need to put in at least a little more. In this case there was already an article about Laxmi Prashad Devkota, just without the "h". Many articles entitled with transcriptions from Hindi, Urdu, Nepalese, etc. have trouble with "sh" versus "h", one common example is Vishnu or Visnu. It is always a good idea to try a variety of spellings before creating a new article. When an s/sh is involved, it is a very good idea. --Bejnar (talk) 05:35, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries

edit

Thanks for your 18 Januray 2008 edit to Bagmati. This may seem picky, but it is considered polite, some wikipedians say essential, to include edit summaries when editing Wikipedia articles. This is true whether adding content, correcting a typo, or suggesting a merger. As the Help page says: "An edit summary should strive to answer the question, "Why did you make this edit?". Providing an edit summary, even if the edit is minor, makes Wikipedia work better by quickly explaining to other users what your change was about." See Help:Edit summary. This is particularly true when deleting the work of others. Absence of a reason for the deletion, leaves subsequent editors without guidance as to why you made the deletion. It may be obvious to you, but to others it may appear as vandalism. --Bejnar (talk) 05:35, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 20:28, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Silalekh

edit

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Silalekh, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Proposed deletion of Devkota

edit

The article Devkota has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable unsourced surname.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 05:14, 5 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
