License tagging for Image:Chris Fehn.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Chris Fehn.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Thanks for uploading Image:MABvideo1 SL 05.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu Badali 17:19, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please, avoid uploading any new image

edit

As a rule of thumb, images found on the internet can't be used in Wikipedia. Please read WP:IUP, WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FU before uploading any new image. --Abu Badali 17:22, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stop

Please stop adding unfree images to Wikipedia immediately. You may be blocked if you continue to do so. Thanks, Deizio talk 18:01, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Blocked indefinitely

edit

After checking your recent contributions, I'm afraid you have failed to act in accordance with your promise not to breach image copyright policy. Various files you have uploaded including Image:Hatebreed Logo.jpg, Image:Pink Floyd Logo.jpg and Image:Miami Dolphins Logo.gif are copyrighted materials which you have falsely labelled as self-created and licensed under the GFDL. Wikipedia can only support editors who understand the importance of image and copyright policy and comply with it. The fact that you were recently unblocked for asserting understanding of and compliance with these rules but have continued to upload coprighted inages suggests that you might have trouble acting in accordance with Wikipedia policies in future. If you believe there is a compelling reason why you should not be blocked indefintely, please state it here on your talk page. Deizio talk 21:01, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Account

edit

Wikipedia accounts cannot be "closed" as such, see the final section of Wikipedia:User page. The main reasons are i) the nature of the GNUFD license and ii) preventing others from opening accounts under a previous editors username. Also, as your talk page contains various warnings about copyright violation it should be preserved. Your userpage can be deleted, but if you wish to leave Wikipedia all you really need to do is stop editing. Deizio talk 21:51, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Rock music Wikiproject invitation

edit

Hello WikiProject Metal member.
WikiProject Metal music is important in expanding encyclopedic coverage of the metal. It brings attention to the lesser-known bands, and significantly improves the quality of the famous ones. Five Featured articles and two formers is proof of that.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently resurrected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and embrace the links between metal and rock music in general.
Rock on.
