- You seem to be right. And I also tried and saw that the X in video gaming links don't work with the date settings. I was using the default, like most users I assume. It's a real shame though because, when reading an article about a game, what I want is related information (what other games were realeased in that year, important events, etc.) which would be provided by links such as 2006 in video gaming. Links like 2006 are pretty useless to me when I'm looking for information about games. The game articles are the perfect place to link to X in video gaming. If we replace all the X in video gaming links with X then there will be very few articles linking to them, especially for more recent years where all release dates are known exactly so you have to use the 200X links. I do understand the situation though but I just can't help feel that such links should be included in the game articles somehow.--analoguedragon 16:39, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree that the "in video gaming" links are useful, which why I try to integrate them elsewhere if possible. What might work is:
Foo is 2005 video game created by Bar Studios.
- Most likely, "video game" could be linked to computer and video games elsewhere, and, if not, then the reader could always find that link in the "X in video gaming" article. — TKD::Talk 11:31, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
About those brackets edit
While those Japanese (?) brackets can indeed be replicated on Wikipedia (just like every kanji), they are still very similar to the angled brackets found in regular ASCII and the Manual of Style for Japan-related articles urges us to consider that Asian characters are not displayed correctly on many computers due to operating system and/or font issues. That's why I generally try to avoid using them, were possible, it is the English language Wikipedia after all and while I use Linux for the most part (no display troubles there, at least not on my setup), checking the articles with my Windows install tells me that there might indeed be issues for the average, not so Japanese-savvy user. In this case, this can be easily avoided by dropping a little bit of typographic stylization. And that we do all the time anyway, see WP:ALBUMS#Capitalization. I see you changed the word not for now in the sentence The film has now been released in Europe or America, and is available on DVD, region 3 since May 27, 2006.
Did you change it because you have some new information or because you thought I had made a typo ?
When I wrote the article I thought it only existed on Region 3 DVD (Asia). I know it was not released in the theaters outside of Asia. --Jackaranga 15:03, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
