Flora and fauna

Alvin: Hi! Is there something I don't know about the Burl Ives recording? It says 1944 in sources I've checked. Isn't that date correct? Pepso 12:57, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

The 1944 date is erroneous, and will be corrected in the 2nd edition of THE MISCHIEVOUS ART OF JIM FLORA. Flora actually did design a few album covers before 1947, but they did not feature his characteristic art, merely his layout, typography, and visual elements, and they were not signed. In and of themselves, they add nothing to the Flora illustrative legacy.

Alvin: Got it. Should you put in some kind of comment on the stylistic similarities of Flora and Gene Deitch? Pepso 04:21, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Don't feel it's necessary. They riffed off each other (mutual fans), but there were so many influences on Flora (Miro, Klee, Picasso, Calder, the Mexican muralists, etc. etc. etc.) who were not mentioned in the Wiki entry, that I don't feel Deitch merits further mention aside from the UPA connection.

King

King (a friend) says he has never acted in any films. Same name, different guy. I am working with JD to revamp this page. Is there any way I can contact you directly to discuss the King and Flora pages? We seem to be working the same turf, from slightly different angles.
