editHi there! I just got your message here. Thanks for making an account! Actually, there are quite a few advantages to getting an account - for example, you can add articles which interest you to your watchlist by clicking on the "watch" tab at the top of the screen. Afterwards, whenever you click on "my watchlist" at the very top, you will see the latest updates to those articles.
For editing experiments and such, try the sandbox here: Wikipedia:Sandbox.
