Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Medical spa do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 23:43, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think the deletion is covered pretty well in the guidelines on Spam: "Adding external links to an article or user page for the purpose of promoting a website or a product is not allowed, and is considered to be spam. Although the specific links may be allowed under some circumstances, repeatedly adding links will in most cases result in all of them being removed." Given that you added the same link to multiple articles and the overlap between your username and the site, it was an apparent conflict of interest. Given your subsequently created user page, I haven't seen anything to counteract that view. —C.Fred (talk) 21:26, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Additionally, I deleted the link that you mentioned--for spa medical insurance--because it was off-topic for the article. It was not as patently spam, but I do think it was placed more for advertisement than for information. —C.Fred (talk) 21:31, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I contributed a link, and if I did it properly, and it was acceptable, I was ready to contribute more.
The problem is, you didn't do it properly, and it wasn't acceptable. That was politely pointed out to you. If it's easier for you to not play at all than to play by the rules, so be it. —C.Fred (talk) 00:18, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Nope. Directly from WP's policy page WP:User_pages: "You are welcome to include a link to your personal home page, although you should not surround it with any promotional language."
I never edited your user page. I had no problems with the links there. It was the links in articles that I objected to. Wikipedia:External Links is the relevant language there: "You should avoid linking to a website that you own, maintain or represent, even if the guidelines otherwise imply that it should be linked." I highlight the words "or represent," in light of the username that you use. —C.Fred (talk) 22:52, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

With regards to your comments on User talk:C.Fred: Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks will lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 16:04, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I didn't ever even imply that you modified my userpage. That would be idiotic considering the deleter signed his/her name.
Then I'm confused. You cited the User pages policy in regard to links I deleted. My point is, I didn't delete any links on your user page, only in articles. —C.Fred (talk) 16:04, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Feel your pain

edit

I feel your pain with C.Fred. I had pretty much a similar experience. I wish C. Fred would learn what the "talk" page is for... -- sgetmanenko
