Do you want to call the new section "Acquiring language" Most people will think that means learning to talk. What about "Pre-reading skill development"?

A child's ability - In the first sentence, please put in the possessive. It is in THE comfort of a loved - I realize this is still in your sandbox, so be sure you edit carefully before you move things to the actual article page.

One tendency you have is to put the parts of a perfectly fine sentence together somewhat backwards. For example: All the material that a young child is presented with, their brain is able to make some use of. It would be easier to read if you reversed it (and also don't personify the brain): Children are able to make use of all the material with which they are presented.

Here is another suggestion for editing: "The amount of time that a child spends listening to their parents or other important caregiver’s read to them will be a good predictor of the level of reading that they will attain later on in their life." I removed "research has shown for years" because this is the purpose of citing. You are using the research to support the claim, so just make the claim directly.

Your ode to Goodnight Moon, while very close to my heart, may be an approach that isn't really neutral. (It would be better to put that on the page for Goodnight Moon!). Can you try to adopt a tone that is more encyclopedic. What are the benefits of reading to children before they can read?

The list of stages of reading development is directly from Wolf and needs to be cited right there. there are other stage names given by different researchers, so you should cite Wolf.

Several times you have said how important "perception" is. Perception of what. It isn't clear from your text.

I assume you haven't finished with the stages section yet, so I'll wait. Nothing more annoying that people commenting on your work before it is "ready" to be seen.
