Kangal Dog edit

Hi Alfaarti. Thank for you contributions to the Kangal Dog article!. Before removing the info in the article please consider that it's sourced. Also consider that saying something originates from ignorance is an opinion and thus disputed. ~ Zirguezi 13:28, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Zirguezi. Thank you for your contributions and gentle reminder. The source for the information is given but the source does not support the information as "other names". Actually, the source clearly states the differences between the "Kurdish Shepherd Dog" and "Kangal". The source also conflicts with the information within this Wikipedia entry: "All Kangal Dogs have a black facial mask, and black or shaded ears.". Please see the other sources. I originally removed the statement without discussion because I thought it was vandalism since the source did not suggest any "Kurdish Kangal Dog"s.
I didn't intend insult saying "ignorance", it was not an opinion either. I had fed many dogs, some of them were Kangals, one Akbash, etc. I've seen many people wrongly attributing Kangal name to my Akbash or two Karabashes. There are even people who call APBT a "Turkish dog". :) So, pointing out to this as ignorance is neither insult nor opinion, it is just a state of fact. I should have found a milder word for it though, sorry.
I believe we should move "Kurdish Kangal" definition along with Turkish Shepherd Dog and Anatolian Shepherd Dog from "other names" section to a "related" section (with Turkish Shepherd Dog redirected to Anatolian Shepherd Dog) if you agree. Alfaarti (talk) 22:05, 30 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
While the source does not refer to the Kurdish Shepherd Dog as being the same as Kangal it does say that the Kurdish Shepherd Dog is a variant(mix or descendant if you will) of the Kangal dog. The problem with adding the names to the related section is: 1. The related section if only for related articles 2: There is no separate article for the "Sivas", "Turkish" or "Kurdish" variant so you'd have to remove them all. Also the article seems to be a favourite target of a lot of nationals(on both sides) so removing either is going to cause even more vandalism ~ Zirguezi 17:30, 2 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
