Category nominated for deletion

I've nominated Category:Slovenian Lamas for deletion. It appears to be an unnecessary category with a membership of one, and there are no other "Lamas by nationality" categories. Plus you persist in misusing the category system by adding Shenphen Rinpoche to Category:Lamas when he is already in a subcategory thereof. Please read WP:CAT again. It is not my fault if for the moment there is only one Lama in Slovenia. But given the fact that the Slovene government granted to this monk the Slovene citizenship on the basis that he is the only Lama in Slovenia doesn't deserve a category? And i agree, we could set "Lamas by nationality" categories, but I have not time for creating all of them... --Alencek 08:08, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

The real point is that such categories are simply not useful. Wikipedia policy would require that any lama put into a subcategory would have to be removed from Category:Lamas, which is where people will be looking for lamas and they won't want to look into fifteen different Lama by nationality categories. Subcategories like this are created when there are a huge number of entries in a category to disperse the category into smaller categories. So when someone is placed in "American writers" they are removed from "Writers". In the case of a category with a relatively small number of entries, it is counterproductive to subcategorize. The user can see the nationality of the Lama from their Buddhists by nationality category, which is a useful subcategorization given the number on Buddhists. GlassFET 14:57, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

What's about "Category:Slovenian_Roman_Catholic_bishops" category from within "Category:Slovenian_Roman_Catholics"? Isn't it the same that "Slovenian Lamas" from within "Slovenian Buddhist" both connected to "Category:Slovenian_people_by_religion"? But... Let better delete the Lama and not touch the Catholic Church! That is. And what's about "Category:Slovenian_religious_leaders"? (which I didn't created)? Empty. Nobody put it for deletion. Maybe, but I'm not really concerned with how the Roman Catholic categories are organized. Maybe there should be some deletions there as well, but I'll leave it to editors interested in those subjects to decide.
