Johanna Benson's success

It all started when the Namibian's own paralympic s team took part in theAthletics at the 2012 Summer Paralympics – Women's 100 metres in London When a 22 years old Walvis bay citizen,Johanna Benson decided to follow Frank Fredericks footstep by trying hard as she could to bring something back at home. Johanna scoped a gold medal in the Women's 200m T37race and second behind Oksana Krechunyak of Ukraine. and a silver in Women's 100m T37,unfortunately one of her team members Ananias Shikongo who was suppose to take part in the Athletics at the 2012 Summer Paralympics – Men's 200 metres T11 had some injuries so he struggled to compete to bring home something too.

Namibia as a whole was made proud and showed their appreciation by giving her N$170 000,a house to choose from the three given and a diplomatic passport by the Government of Namibia.This amount of money is included in the N$292 000 she received in total from private individuals,institutions and organisation.To add on thisOld Mutual also showed its appreciation by giving her an amount of N$10 000 in her unit trust account which is not include in that amount given. Furthermore,she was not appreciated in monetary terms but given an offer for free trainings and physiotherapy for the next four years from the Bio Kinetic centre and Pure Nutrition Technology agency inWalvis bay which she needs the most for her disabilities and training purposes

Benson thanked the entire nation for their donations,appreciation, love,care and support thus,setting herself to be a key figure of encouragement and motivation to fellow young Namibian and the rest of the world,showing everyone that nothing will ever stop you from succeeding and achieving your goals if you seize the opportunity through perseverance, hard work and determination.
