Article Evaluation

I would make sure that you at least list some of the other adaptive functions for which torpor is helpful that you will discuss (or even other functions) in the introduction. You certainly don't have to go into detail about them, but I think that would be helpful in showing the breadth of the topic (and would also allow future Wikipedians to expand upon your article!). I would also definitely expand upon all of your subheadings and make sure that the definition of torpor in the original article is accurate. Also, do you want to add other species besides mice and bats? That way, the article could appeal to as many different audiences as possible.

It appears you have several great examples to add to the functions section of this article. My suggestion would be to add citations to the lead section of this article, specifically the definition of torpor and the paragraph - "Some animals seasonally go into long periods of inactivity, with reduced body temperature and metabolism, made up of multiple bouts of torpor. This is known as hibernation if it occurs during winter or aestivation if it occurs during the summer. Daily torpor, on the other hand, is not seasonally dependent and can be an important part of energy conservation at any time of year." Also, under the sub-heading "Advantage in Environments With Unpredictable Food Sources," I would suggest starting the paragraph with the third sentence "Torpor is an adaptive strategy of animals with unpredictable food supplies" as it is more general and can serve as the topic sentence. Overall, I think your planned contributions cover some great examples of functionality and will improve the quality of this article.Alison1 6 (talk) 00:56, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
