License tagging for Image:Rjorgedvd.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Rjorgedvd.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Proposed deletion of Jorge Cervantes

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Jorge Cervantes, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Notability not established; BLP violation.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. –Juliancolton | Talk 04:28, 9 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Agingprophet! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 875 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Jorge Cervantes - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Jean Erdman

edit

Per WP:BDP, please provide a reliable source that indicates she has died. I certainly don't doubt that she could have died, given her age. However, we need a reliable source to support it. If you have questions, let me know. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 22:39, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I work for the Joseph Campbell Foundation and just heard from the Executive Director last night.

There's also this:

Social media are not used by Wikipedia as reliable source. It would be enough if an obituary for Erdman appeared on the site of Joseph Campbell Foundation. Resuming, no social newtorks or blog allowed.--Folengo (talk) 18:29, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Like I said, I work directly for the Foundation of which she is the emeritus president. Also, the news of her death is everywhere right now. Please stop being so daft.

I'm not daft, man. You could be everyone, who assures you work for Joseph Campbell Foundation and the like? We can't use Social Networks here, we need reliable sources. The one above is perfectly fine, thanks. That's the rules, like it or not. --Folengo (talk) 18:38, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Apologies for the remark but we are grieving and I have verified the information 10 times and you keep taking it down. Annoying to say the least. You could have verified it yourself in half the time it takes to write this stuff.

  • With respect, I did try to verify it and could not find any reliable sources that supported her death (as of yesterday). As Folengo noted, Facebook is not generally considered a reliable source. Folengo is also quite right that we can't take your word on it that the information is accurate, nor can we take your word that you work for the Foundation. Understand; it's not about trusting you or not. It's that ANYbody could make that claim about anything here and we have no way of verifying it. The accuracy of the project depends upon reliable sources, most especially when it comes to biographies of living (or recently deceased) people. Our Biographies of living persons policy is critically important and has to be followed. We get claims of people's deaths all the time. The most prominent one of late was for Kim Jong-un. Without verification in reliable sources, it's a non-starter. We now have a reliable source at [1] provided by Folengo (thank you!). I didn't doubt she had died, given her age, but we have to have reliable sources. Your edit warring to force the issue was inappropriate. Further, referring to Folengo as "daft" is out of line as well. If you intend on continuing to edit here, you need to comply with the Wikipedia:No personal attacks policy. Please understand; we're not trying to slam you down. Imagine if someone came along and added material to this article that was unsourced, and said something decidedly negative about her, without providing a source. The person defends their actions by saying they were Erdman's personal assistant. We try to find reliable sources to support what this person is saying, but can't. Do you think we should accept their word in such a scenario? --Hammersoft (talk) 19:05, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Once again, this is understood. Is the reference accepted now?

Thank you again the attitude. Sorry for Agingprophet (talk) 13:25, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
