League of Copyeditors roll call

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there. The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Baby-sitters Club

Hi, Kristine: From your comments on the List of The Baby-sitters Club novels Talk page, I thought you might be interested in a project that I started with some friends a couple months ago to create a separate wiki dedicated to the BSC series (and related topics, such as its spin-offs and adaptations). We have about 400 articles right now but most of them are stubs; our biggest goal for the foreseeable future is adding more content (such as a complete page for each book, as you mentioned on the Talk page). Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Found you in the directory; new and need assistance

Hi. I'm fairly new here and have not encountered a situation like this. There is a particular problem on the Marysville, Ohio page with individuals solely interested in posting a discussion forum link at the bottom of the page. They are repeatedly vandalizing the page as well. One particular individual, Yahmez, has signed up, and the only edits this person is making is to add an external link to a discussion forum. This indicates the sole purpose is to advertise this website. Further,

       "One should avoid: 10. Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace and 
       Facebook),[1] chat or discussion forums/groups (such as Yahoo! Groups), 
       USENET newsgroups or e-mail lists." Wikipedia guidelines on external links.  

Clearly posting this discussion forum link is for the sole purpose of advertising, while the website is not notable nor an authority in the area. It also appears to be against Wiki guidelines. I've attempted to discuss this with the individual, and my requests have gone unresponded to while they continue to repost the forum link. If you could help out here it would be appreciated. If you're not an appropriate editor to address the issue my apologies in advance.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.
