editPlease refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at YT. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. InfiniteNexus (talk) 18:58, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on YT. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. InfiniteNexus (talk) 19:06, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- I have just responded to you on the Yt talk page. I didn’t understand how to reply. So it took me a few minutes to figure it out. I’m on my mobile phone and the text is very small. Barely saw the ‘reply’ link. My edit is valid and not understanding why you are removing my edit.
- I am looking into a dispute resolution if this escalates which I hope it doesn’t my addition isn’t controversial but credible and factual.
- if the way my addition is written is the problem, please tell me a way to write it without losing the value or truth of it
- thanks Aceplum1 (talk) 19:42, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- I have replied over at Talk:YT, but
not understanding why you are removing my edit
? I already explained to you that your edit violated Wikipedia guidelines here, and then asked you to discuss on the talk page here and here. You ignored all three, which is a sign of WP:DISRUPTIVE behavior. Disruptive behavior is unhealthy and could lead to you being blocked, so thank you for responding. InfiniteNexus (talk) 20:50, 1 October 2022 (UTC)- It actually didn’t. And I’ve corrected it. And I’m definitely learning user rights and exactly what disruptive behavior really is. - Also I want to mention. You are addressing me in multiple locations and it’s becoming tiresome to track. Please pick one area to discuss this. Either here or the Yt page. Not both. Aceplum1 (talk) 21:58, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- I have replied over at Talk:YT, but
Hello, Aceplum1. I am sorry that you have had such a bad experience in starting as a Wikipedia editor, and I hope you will have a better time here in future. I don't think that InfiniteNexus has been as helpful as they should have been to a new editor who doesn't yet know Wikipedia's ways. However, the essential point is that the purpose of a disambiguation page is to help readers find their way to the article they are looking for, when there are articles on several different topics which might be searched for from the same title. If there is no article dealing with a particular topic, then the disambiguation page can't lead a reader to a relevant article, so that topic should not be listed in the disambiguation page. InfiniteNexus was therefore right to revert your editing, but could, I think, have been much more helpful in explaining the reason to you. JBW (talk) 22:18, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your welcome and reply. I am new and learning, thank you for recognizing that and clearing up what kind of page I was making an addition too.
- I do have a question for you, I have found the article connected to ‘yt’ being a racial slur used by African Americans is far fetched and made up. How would I go about adding to the wiki dictionary, only to add my definition of the word ‘yt’ as I and many others know it. It’s not derogatory or racist. Any help you can share would be appreciated.
- Have a good week Aceplum1 (talk) 14:04, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
