A tag has been placed on Russell D. Longcore, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Russell D. Longcore is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:Russell D. Longcore saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please feel free to use deletion review, but do not continue to repost the article if it is deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. --Finngall talk 22:36, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mr. Murphy,
  • A speedy deletion is intended to be just that, and no long discussion is required. I felt that there was little difference between the article as presented and the previous version of the article which had been deleted after a full discussion (at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Russell Longcore). (I wasn't in on that discussion, but when searching on Google I found a cached version of the old page here.) As such, the article was eligible for speedy deletion as per the criterion cited above. I tagged it, and an administrator reviewed it, agreed with the assessment, and deleted it.
  • The references provided seemed insufficient to establish that Mr. Longcore is notable enough to merit an article here.
  • Remember, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising medium or a provider of free web space. Autobiographies are strongly discouraged, as are any articles where the author and/or major contributors have a conflict of interest. The tone of the article was on of an advertisement or a press release, and your response to me indicates that advertising and promotion is your purpose here. That's not what Wikipedia is for.
  • I am not an administrator, and do not have the ability to delete articles myself. (Indeed, I have no more powers, privileges, or authority here than you, except for whatever reputation I may have gotten (good or ill) for the quality of my contributions.) If you wish to pursue the matter further, then the person you should take it up with is not me, but the administrator who deleted the article, Shoeofdeath (talk). If and only if you are unable to resolve the issue with him, you are free to take the matter to deletion review, but I don't recommend taking it that far.
Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks. --Finngall talk 17:34, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
