Is this a survey of some kind? Option C/E (why two letters?), I guess.--Thatotherdude (talk) 17:16, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

This is a survey to choose photos of the table. You can vote here, in Photocaucus, final round. The two letters are because the original Option C was modified during the discussion.--Belibaste (talk) 17:30, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for including me, but I'm more or less neutral on the subject, so I'll take a pass.--Thatotherdude (talk) 13:27, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Article probation on United States presidential election, 2012

  Thank you for your contributions to the encyclopedia! In case you are not already aware, an article to which you have recently contributed, United States presidential election, 2012, is on article probation. A detailed description of the terms of article probation may be found at Wikipedia:General_sanctions/2012_Presidential_Campaign/Log. Also note that the terms of some article probations extend to related articles and their associated talk pages.

The above is a templated message. Please accept it as a routine friendly notice, not as a claim that there is any problem with your edits. Thank you.--v/r - TP 13:13, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 15

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Greenhouse gas, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page CFC (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Reversion of Mike Huckabee edit

Hello, I noticed you reverted my previous edit moving Mike Huckabee to the "Pending Announcement" section in the 2016 Presidential campaign. After reading the CNN article that was linked; I was getting ready to revert the edit (same reason; it sounds more like a pre-announcement announcement) but noticed you beat me to it. In any event, thanks. WAVY 10 Fan (talk) 18:27, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

No problem. Cheers!--Thatotherdude (talk) 18:30, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

  Please explain your contributions using a descriptive edit summary. Changing information on Wikipedia (such as numbers and dates) without explanation, as you did at 2020 United States presidential election, may be confused with vandalism. Thank you. Whoops, my bad. I assumed that change would be self-explanatory, but obviously was wrong. I'll be more diligent about using edit summaries from now on. Cheers!--Thatotherdude (talk) 21:26, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Howard Zinn reversion

Did you need to entirely delete the brief details on Howard Zinn's military career? I put it last in each section in order to put it after the information for which he is most notable. I think his military career is important because he says that he joined the military on the basis of his political views, and that his experience in the military informed the evolution of his political beliefs later in life. 131.137.245.208 (talk) 17:35, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

OK, fair point. My edit was made in good faith, but if wish to revert it, I'll leave it alone. A. Randomdude0000 (talk) 17:47, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to genetically modified organisms, commercially produced agricultural chemicals and the companies that produce them, broadly construed, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally you are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

  Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Augmented reality: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Funnyfarmofdoom (talk to me) 05:00, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
