And yet... One can serve in a Special Forces unit and NOT be a Green Beret. What delineates the Green Beret soldiers from the rest of the soldiers in the unit? Why, it's the SPECIAL FORCES tab. And if you take that Special Forces tabbed soldier out of that unit, guess what? He still has the tab, and he is still a Green Beret.
A soldier with a Ranger tab is still a Ranger, regardless of the unit he is assigned.
