Entering in the merit of the change, please note that the text that you have restored sounds quite weird to experts in the field.

What “tree-optimality” criterion means? And the difference between the two criteria is not “just” distances versus characters, unless we do not want to target primary schools.

It would be necessary to

1. Redirect this paragraph to the major page Minimum Evolution (that must be expanded)

2. Remove the restored text by replacing it with a summary of the Minimum Evolution page.

3. Reconsider the whole maximum parsimony page by addressing all of the weird parts.

4. Reconsider the least-squares page as well as the neighbors joining page and cast all inside the Balanced Minimum Evolution Framework.
