You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but if you wish to acquire additional privileges, you can simply create a named account. It's free, requires no personal information, and lets you:
- Create new pages and rename pages
- Edit semi-protected pages
- Upload images
- Have your own watchlist, which shows when articles you are interested in have changed
Note that in order for the first three features to be available, you must have had an account for a minimum number of days and made a minimum number of edits.
If you edit without using a named account, your IP address (92.35.232.49) is used to identify you instead.
I hope that you, as a Wikipedian, decide to continue contributing to our project: an encyclopedia of human knowledge that anyone can edit. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or you can to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. We also have an intuitive guide on editing if you're interested. By the way, please make sure to sign and date your talk page comments with four tildes (~~~~).

Richard Trevithick
editI notice you changed two categories on Richard Trevithick from British to English. Please don't do that. The article states Trevithick was British and the categories should reflect the article. The Mirror Cracked (talk) 16:11, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- Its no big deal for me, though it does not fit with the categories: the categories English, Scottish and Welsh are sub-categories to the category "British" and therefore all British people should be categorized accordingly. But its really not worth arguing about, so I wont. --92.35.232.49 (talk) 16:15, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. In Trevithick's case there has been a lot of discussion about whether he should be described as Cornish or English, with British being the chosen compromise that both sides can live with. There are other cases where moving people into the sub-categories is not clearly the right thing to do. Plenty of British people are of mixed heritage, and British is useful in these cases. Frequently the specific nationality of a subject isn't known, and again British is the right choice. In general, the categories should follow what is said in the article. If you want to change the category, you need to change the article first - with sources, of course. Best, The Mirror Cracked (talk) 16:34, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
