March 2009 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Cirt (talk) 17:48, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
Do you have a reliable source to back up your assertions? Cirt (talk) 18:10, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tom Cruise edit

I think your attempts to inform Cirt of policy are, well, wrong. And it would help if you complete your sentences, which you seemingly didn't in your last post. There is no rule that a statement needs to be "current", as you seem to falsely demand, simply that the source used is one which meets WP:RS, current or not. Now, of course, it would be possible to say, on the talk page, that the information is no longer accurate. In fact, most people are encouraged to do that. But, as is, you removed well-sourced information apparently without discussion in advance or approval. That is a clear violation of wikipedia policy. Please do not continue to violate policy in that way again, as doing so can lead to an individual account user or IP being blocked. If you have such complaints, and can demonstrate that the information is no longer valid, then by all means provide that information on the talk page of the article, so it can be reviewed and the appropriate changes made. Otherwise, consider this a formal warning that continuing to remove sourced information from an article is against wikipedia policy and could lead to your being blocked from editing. Thank you. I really don't think it's appropriate to harrass someone in private messages. I understand some users have issue with some of my past actions as an admin but this is unrelated and uncalled for. Please do not make personal comments about my typing as I am disabled and do not have the use of my right hand. This should have gone to the article's talk page in the first place. I have been an editor here for several years and an admin for several months (cannot login from this computer) so please don't preach at me. Wiki policy clearly states false infomaton should be removed, especially if it is controversial. Current sources are required if they are being used to cite a current situation. To say, "X does not exist" when the only source is from several years ago saying "at the moment X doesn't exist but it might easily in the future" obviously is not a adequate source. Please do not leave messages here in the future as I will be leaving this (library) computer soon and will have no way of accessing them. Please leave any further messages on the talk page of the article in question. 80.44.181.23 (talk) 20:46, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
