Deleting abbreviations

Hi, I see you've been deleting abbreviations from articles—for example the "(CTD)" in "CBS Television Distribution (CTD)." Per the Wikipedia Manual of Style, "When an abbreviation is to be used in an article, give the expression in full at first, followed immediately by the abbreviation in parentheses (round brackets). In the rest of the article the abbreviation can then be used by itself." While you may personally object to this use, it is generally accepted for Wikipedia articles. It just seemed like you guys were making abbreviations randomly, just because they made you high or something, since those specific ones aren't used in everyday speaking. Well then why don't you guys put abbreviations for *all* items that have 3 or more parts to their terminology?

I'm not a "high" level user or anything, just an editor like you. Anyway, in those three articles, the subject is later referred to by some abbreviation, so it makes sense, and is supported by the MoS. If other articles are different, that just means someone hasn't gotten to them yet, not that they're necessarily more right. Trivialist (talk) 14:54, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

No, by "high," I meant "high on drugs." If someone hasn't gotten to them yet, then why, after you do your precious reversion, don't you immediately go back to your other articles where the abbreviations weren't used yet and "fix" the "problem"?

And if what you're saying is true, then why do you insist on making sure there's one at One Magnificent Morning when there's only one tiny little other reference to the name later in that article?

71.219...: The One Magnificent Morning article is not one of "mine" and, in fact, I don't think I've ever edited it (I'm still not King Shadeed). But in that case, where the abbreviation is only used once, I would have no problem with replacing it with the full name and deleting the "(OMM)" in the lede. Trivialist, stupid shadeed can't pay enough attention to simple explanations about why I had been using a few different addresses, even though I explained it more than once. I already told him that I had tripped over my too-short phone cord and yanked it out, and every time that gets disconnected they send me a new address. Of course I can fix that.

Which editing did you suppose was "being disruptive"?

By "disruptive," I meant adding abbreviations to articles where it wasn't necessary. In Warner Bros. Television, the abbreviation "WBTV" is later used, so it makes sense to define it. In Sony Pictures Family Entertainment Group, the abbreviation "SPFEG" is never used in the article, so there is no need to define it. If your issue is that some articles define abbreviations and some don't, it's because some articles use abbreviations and some don't. You seem to have removed the abbreviations at firstbecause you didn't like them, and then escalated to adding them to numerous articles, whether they are needed or not, to try and make some kind of point about being consistent. If your issue is that all Wikipedia articles aren't consistent, well, there are several million, and no one person ever looks at them all, so, yes, there will be inconsistencies.
