Open Letter from the Bipolar-AnonIP-Gnome
editHello ... since you were involved with my recent block/unblock for allegedly violating WP:CIVIL as User:72.75.73.158, I wanted to solicit your opinion on my new user talk page, User talk:68.239.79.82.
In addition to the not a topic for conversation boilerplate, I have added a revised "Here about a speedy delete?" greeting that was the source of contention as User:72.75.73.158's user page ... this one has some qualitative examples and wikilinks, like:
While in Newpage Patrol mode, sometimes I tag dozens of new articles in a single day ... I can tag and warn twelve in a single one hour session, or one ever five minutes.
Not bragging, just making a point ... and I also added a subsection, "What to do after your speedy delete has been restored" that contains the caveat:
If you do convince the closing admin to restore the deleted article be sure to add a note to that effect on the article's talk page ... seeing an article recreated without any notice that it was restored by an admin looks suspiciously like the author has recreated it in defiance of the CSD, and another user may look at the edit history and assume that the author removed the CSD tag in violation of procedure.
As well as:
I guess this kind of notification is primarily the responsibility of the admin doing the restore, but the author shares responsibility for altering others as to the true nature of the "recreation after deletion" ... another alternative is to use your sandbox to whip it into shape before posting it again, so as to avoid the premature tagging of a "work in progress" that actually has merit for inclusion.
Anywho, what I'd like is suggestions on how this "implies" what I feel about Wikipedia policies, based you you opinions of what someone might "infer" from my "tone of voice", i.e., does it punch any WP:CIVIL buttons?
Also, does it look like I'm trying to "pass the buck" to the admins? Or am I just pointing the newbies in the correct direction?
Let's face it, if I had not put a nn-warn on their talk page, they would not have had anyone to ask, "What happened to the article I created yesterday? I put a HANGON like you suggested, but it's gone anyway and I can't find an edit history to contact anyone else but you!"
And I can't do bupkiss about it, even if there are conversations with me on their talk page or mine ... so what am I supposed to do with the ones who come back after a week on vacation, far from a terminal?
Please take a look at User talk:68.239.79.97#alcorn.27s_books and my recently added User talk:68.239.79.97#In case User:Backpack45scb returns here ... to see how I'm looking out for a user who lost five articles in two distinct AfDs (WP:COI and the domino effect) and won't be back to a keyboard until next week ... someone may choose to adopt them and help whip them into shape for resubmission in a few months, perhaps as a single article about the subject, but not one for each of their published travel books ... is this WP:BITE behavior?
So, as Verizon DSL periodically changes my IP address, and I don't want to give up being a WikiGnome, I figured that if I used a common, recognizable introduction on my talk page, then the admins would begin to recognize me as not just "some overzealous anonymous unregistered vandal" when I tagged some newbie's precious article before they had "finished" it ... hence "I'm here to repair it, not to defend it."
I mean, "I'm here to enforce it, not to explain it" would certainly violate WP:CIVIL, but I don't want to come across as a wiki-nazi, and that's not what I want to imply ... sometimes while making a repair, I break something ... sometimes it can be easily fixed with an UNDO by any editor (registered or not), but sometimes it takes a Herculean effort that involves Power That Be from the Great Wikipedia in the Sky, i.e., an administrator, which I ain't.
Please take the time to reply on my talk page, so I can edit it for The Next Time I have to start with a boilerplate {{talkheader}} for a new IP address ... it could last for a few days or for a few weeks, but ...
Nothing lasts forever 'cept the earth and sky,
so this will also pass in the blink of an eye.
I'm thankful and I gotta say that ain't no lie,
'cause except for the Grace of Allah, there go I.— Abu Huraira's Rap (1992-11-25)
So, since I'm gonna be around for a while, how can I be pro-actively productive in dealing with newbies and speedy deletes when I may very well be their sole place to point a finger, because I wrote on their talk page:
"I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Brian Brinkley, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process."
And I signed it ... who else are they gonna run to first?
So please, help me create a suitable boilerplate for "Here about a speedy delete?" ... feel free to edit the version on my current talk page ... I'll do a copy&paste of the current version the next time my IP changes and I start a new talk page.
