Create your own account? edit

Hi, I noticed that you are contributing quite efficiently on the Harry Potter articles, would you consider creating your own account, so that we can identify you more easily? Also, you would get your own signature in the talk pages.

Whether you chose to join or not, thanks for your help on the HP pages.--Lgriot 21:45, 14 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I have thought of getting an account, are there any hazards involved in maintaining one? What do you mean by signature, do you mean putting in the time that one wrote something? I used to put that in, but my watch ran out of batteries. It should be restored soon enough.
No hazard, no, just an opportunity to make yourself known. Nothing to maintain either. Also when you have an account, if ever you have to change IP address (because you change your PC or your internet provider), the Wiki system will keep a record of all your contributions for you, you can look it up it by just logging-in with your account I.D. The other advantage is that you have a user page, where you can (but only if you want to) describe yourself, and what you are interested in. If you are not bothered by this "social aspect" of wikipedia, you can just leave your user page empty, no one will mind. The signature is just the "~~~~" which translates automatically into "Lgriot 12:53, 15 May 2006 (UTC)". Mine is a bit boring, but some people have fancy colours in theirs (see for e.g. User talk:Electricmoose). Also you can add yourself to the list of participants in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Harry Potter. Lgriot 12:53, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
