If We Ever Meet Again edit

Im sorry but we don't refer to song writers in album pages as their surname/nickname/shorthand name. All writers get noted as their full name. For example the producer "Polow da Don" is written like it is when he produces, but when he has writing credits in a song e.g. "Meet Me in the Middle" we accredit him as Jamal Jones. • There is an exception though -- if you really are officially credited as busbee (it is lowercase, right?) then busbee it is. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 16:36, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
    • I'm with Lil-unique1, this nickname stuff is not gonna fly here. Have a nickname all you want in the music industry, but this is an encyclopedia. CloversMallRat (talk) 17:12, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The nickname is how "busbee" is known. You logic is off fellas. If someone is seaarches "Polow da Don wiki" they are taken to a wiki page entitled "Polow Da Don" not a wiki page entitled "Polow-Freache Jamal Fincher Jones." Please stop changing this. Its kind of getting ridiculous. busbee is professionally known as busbee. His profession is the ONLY reason he would have a wiki page. So, his page should be "busbee" not "Michael Busbee." Regarding crediting...your credits need to follow what the actual album credits state. And every album busbee has ever been credited on as a songwriter he is indeed credited as "busbee." It's not up to you how to credit him on wikipedia. As an encyclopedia, it is intended to reflect reality. And in reality he is credited always, writing and producing, as busbee. If other writer/producers choose to make their credits different, that is their choice. But it is not your choice how they are credited. It is the role of wikipedia as an encyclopedia to reflect reality...not your opinion. Thank you.

June 2010 edit

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to the page Paper Empire. Blank pages can confuse readers, and are overall not helpful to the Wikipedia project; furthermore, blanking a page is not the same as deleting it.

If the article you blanked is a duplicate of another article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate revision. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please use the appropriate deletion process.   Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to Pulse (Toni Braxton album). If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. kcylsnavS{screechharrass} 22:32, 6 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I did not vandalize...i corrected. "busbee" is credited as "busbee" on that album (and every other album he has credits on)...not "Michael Busbee." I also mentioned that in that page's discussion page. Please check your sources. Thank you!4trak (talk) 22:36, 6 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your response. My issue is with changing his primary page from "Michael Busbee" to "busbee," which I expect is not his name regardless of writer/musician credits, and also with the number of pages you'd changed. I won't second guess you on this again but I do recommend you take it up in the appropriate talk pages (if you haven't done so already) so that community consensus is apparent. kcylsnavS{screechharrass} 22:24, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Busbee / Accrediting Songwriters edit

The general rule for accrediting songwriters is to use their registered name on Songfile, Harry Fox Agency, ASCAP or BMI Repertoire which are four the official songwriter's agencies which ensure that writers are credited as well as paid royalities. On these, Busbee is registered as Michael Busbee therefore he should be credited as Michael Busbee. Just because something appears in another article doesn't mean its correct. On wikipedia we do things by consensus. It was decided that because different record labels and different release formats present the information in different ways it was best to have one set way of presenting songwriters. Please do not remove 'Michael' from the the name until there is a new consensus stating that it is correct to do so. Do not engage in an WP:edit war instead continue discussing if you wish to do so but do not proceed to remove the name again. Regards, Lil-unique1 (talk) 23:50, 6 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

While this may be correct information. In practice i have found it to be 100% inaccurate. I just went through the list at "Category:American songwriters" and did not find one case where a writer who uses an alias for professional purposes had a wiki page that used that writers "real name" instead of his or her "professional name." Please leave the main "busbee" wiki page "busbee (American Songwriter)." Thank you kindly.4trak (talk) 04:47, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think you'll find your wrong. If you look at Bad Romance by Lady Gaga we list the songwriter in the info box as Steffani Germenotta. It is not inaccurate. As i said above we had to standardize the way that songwriters are credited because different agencies, works etc. all accredit differently. You wish to change something which is opposed by three editors. There is a consensus that the tracklisting should be left as 'Michael Busbee'. Until a consensus says otherwise that's how it should be left. You cannot simply ram through your own proposals if there is no support for them regardless of whether you claim to have music industry experience. Wikipedia is not a technical manual for music it is an encyclopedia of factual information decided by community consensus. WP:Other stuff exists is not a valid argument. If you refuse to co-operate and change Michael Busbee back to Busbee we will have to inform administrators that you are unable to co-operate with policy and it could lead to an edit ban/block. busbee edit

Please, do not remove busbee's full name from the lead of the article about him. It is a common practice to first state the real name of the person, then his usual alias, and afterwards refer to him by that alias. You may check the relevant manuals of style, and to take other Pink's collaborators, compare "Jamal Fincher Jones .. better known by professional name Polow da Don", "Johan Karl Schuster, better known by the stage name Shellback" and "Francis Anthony "Eg" White". Moreover, Michael Busbee is far from always referred to as "busbee": at discogs out of 37 his appearances only 17 times he is "busbee"! 158.255.155.18 (talk) 11:03, 3 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
