Hello IamNotU, I apologise for my disruptive editing. Thank you for correcting the mess I made out of the Wiki. All those edits before were made by just one person, me. This was the first article for Wikipedia (I'm also 23, just to give perspective), that I have edited, and I wasn't aware that I could talk to you via the edit option (I thought I needed an account). Looking back at the additions and edits I've made, I should've been much more neat and thorough with my research and the way I structured the info, disappointed in myself for that. I decided to add my own contributions due to AncestryDNA showing I have Sicilian ancestry. Hi, and thanks for responding finally. I don't want to discourage you from editing, but you do need to follow the rules. Did you see my comments at User talk:49.188.182.39? That was six weeks ago, and you've made about 150 more edits since then, but only 5 have edit summaries. I do see that you've started to add citations, and that's the most important thing, so thanks. I haven't had time to look at anything in detail. It's a bit difficult to assess what's going on, because there are such a large number of small edits without explanations, and because I'm not that familiar with the subject. However, you've also continued to make other edits without citing sources, and there are large sections of the article with no sources at all. I will mark some of them. Another IP editor, 142.184.158.195, has been helping to clean up. It might be helpful if you could try to discuss what you are doing on the article's talk page at Talk:Sicilians. If you want to get someone's attention on a talk page, you can use template:u or template:ping, and please remember to indent your comments with colons and end them with four tildes: ~~~~ to create a signature - see Help:Talk pages. Also, though you're not required to, creating an account can make things easier, for example you'll have your own talk page that doesn't change when your IP number does. I have also been making small edits without explanations, for which I apologise, I sometimes tend to do the small edits here really quick, and so I need to take the time to do gather it properly. I have recently looked through the talk page of Talk:Sicilians, and have read through the warnings and suggestions at my user-talk page. I never meant to break the rules, troll the site or do things in a lazy manner. For now, I have edited the article and added the adequate amount of contributions or corrections it "needed". Thank you for informing me on how to use the feature options, especially for my first time it's very helpful. I understand that you didn't mean to break the rules, and that you have been trying to help improve Wikipedia in good faith. Your contributions are appreciated and it's ok if you make mistakes as a new editor - but they need to be corrected eventually. You said that you "have edited the article and added the adequate amount of contributions or corrections", but I don't think that's quite the case. You've added several pages of material that cite no sources. You need to say where you read the information you add. Please see the message I just added on the article's talk page.

Most of my edits are "clean up" work related to fact-checking and dealing with editors who don't follow the three core content policies for whatever reasons, as well as the manual of style and other guidelines. A fair amount involves hunting down "sock puppets" - people who have been blocked/banned but come back under different names or IPs. I came to this article chasing someone who vandalizes DNA haplogroup study data, and I have it on my "watchlist" because of that. --IamNotU (talk) 02:32, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

I'll check out the message you left on Talk:Sicilians. Also cheers for linking me up with the policies page. So I see you are one of Wikipedia's general Moderators that fact-checks various article edits, making sure the article is written in a stylized manner, as well as blocking sock puppets or people who keep adding irrelevant content to certain articles. When it comes to adding information/sources, I still need to read up on how to add the page number from which I read the original quote from, I'm still confused on how to activate this feature. As for the 'Sicilians' article itself, I probably won't add any more content unless it's small edits, updating certain sources or correcting/removing any errors or mistakes I've made. I do that sort of work, but I don't have the ability to block people directly. When it's necessary, I ask an administrator, or make a problem report to the appropriate noticeboard, for example Sockpuppet Investigations.

It's good to learn how to do citations with the "cite" template, see Help:Referencing for beginners. There's also a lot more information at Wikipedia:Citing sources. It would be helpful if you could go back and add citations for the material you added, for example in the "Origin and influences" section. You're the best person to know where the information came from. I can't overstate the importance of providing citations. As of now, there are no citations in that section.
