All Wikipedia tables are required to follow the manual of style (MOS); see MOS:COLOR, MOS:DTAB, MOS:ACCESS, etc. And I’ll get to the other articles when I get to them; see WP:OTHERSTUFF. Are all the footnotes really necessary though? Surely colouring it green/red andd having a key is sufficent enough. As it is it looks so messy and confusing. 2A00:23C6:4C95:BB01:91D5:7464:9081:5640 (talk) 20:54, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Per MOS:COLOR, “Ensure that color is not the only method used to communicate important information. Especially, do not use colored text or background unless its status is also indicated using another method, such as an accessible symbol matched to a legend, or footnote labels.” So, no, simply coloring it green or red (the red, BTW, violates MOS:ONWHITE) is insufficient. Then use a symbol like an asterisk or something. As it is you've got a clutter of footnotes that display redundant information (unless you're blind, obviously). 2A00:23C6:4C95:BB01:91D5:7464:9081:5640 (talk) 21:00, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
It’s not that simple. Besides, which would you replace: high score, low score, eliminated, bottom/two, or what? Bgsu98 (Talk) 21:35, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
There's plenty of symbols on the keyboard. Use one for high score, one for low score etc. If you put them in superscript it'll look less messy, and you don't have to have a million footnotes at the bottom of the table either, just a key. 2A00:23C6:4C95:BB01:91D5:7464:9081:5640 (talk) 21:47, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you read the policy, it requires an an accessible symbol, of which there are only a few. Please see The Amazing Race 1#Results, for example, where both accessible symbols and footnotes are used. Bgsu98 (Talk) 22:44, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Take a look at Dancing on Ice (series 14)#Scoring chart to see how the dagger & double-dagger could be used. Bgsu98 (Talk) 22:50, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't mean you can't use those symbols at least. That table you showed me from The Amazing Race was far easier to decipher than what's currently on the DOI page. 2A00:23C6:4C95:BB01:91D5:7464:9081:5640 (talk) 23:05, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
How does the Dancing on Ice (series 14)#Scoring chart look now? Bgsu98 (Talk) 23:07, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
That's definitely better. Is the footnotes for ‘this couple finished in 1st/2nd/3rd place’ really necessary though? Their placing is already on the table in the column. 2A00:23C6:4C95:BB01:91D5:7464:9081:5640 (talk) 23:15, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
The matter is the color background. We could simply de-color those cells. Bgsu98 (Talk) 23:17, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well you might as well then if it lessens the clutter. 2A00:23C6:4C95:BB01:91D5:7464:9081:5640 (talk) 23:21, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nah, the color scheme is carried from the contestants table to the scoring table to the individual episode tables. Bgsu98 (Talk) 23:29, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
The colours are only in the individual episode tables on this page, as far as I can tell. And if you're going to change everything else, then why not get rid of those colours? Everyone knows what 1st 2nd and 3rd means anyway. 2A00:23C6:4C95:BB01:91D5:7464:9081:5640 (talk) 23:40, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
