- "The original DVD cover showed Kong on top of the World Trade Center with planes all around him. Following the September 11 attacks, Paramount Pictures voluntarily recalled all retail DVD copies, and was later reissued with a different cover.[1] First entry, Second entry
This is false. The original Paramount DVD did have Kong atop the Twin Towers and was released July 27, 1999 (Amazon ASIN: 6305495181). However, it remained on sale until November 22, 2005, when it was replaced by the non-Towers sleeve version (Amazon ASIN: B000B8I9YK). This was to tie in with the December 5, 2005 theatrical release of Peter Jackson's remake.
This was clearly unconnected to the September 11, 2001 attacks; if anything, the Towers were removed to help it appear closer to Jackson's remake, which had Kong climbing the Empire State Building again.
It appears to be you who first posted this on July 4, 2019, citing the film's unreferenced IMDb Trivia page as a reference and that was removed by another editor. The IMDb entry has since been deleted too. Subsequently, I removed your Wiki entry altogether and now you've reinstated it. I've just deleted it a second time. If you wish to repost this claim again, please cite a reliable reference.
