edit

Hello, I'm Kpgjhpjm. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Mohammed Shami, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Kpgjhpjm 03:51, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Edit conflict

edit

I think you ran into an edit conflict and ended up reverting a bunch of stuff you didn't mean to with the table. Can I suggest you try the table out in your sandbox first to get it right? There should be the option of getting to a sandbox at the top of this page. Blue Square Thing (talk) 10:20, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am messing up while constructing the table. Can you do it in my place?

Yeah, tables are tricky. Let me have a go at it - it might take a little while, but I'll see what it looks like today I hope. Blue Square Thing (talk) 10:24, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ok,take your time. You just tell, if an experienced editor like you thinks constructing tables to be tricky, then what will the novice ones like me do? Ha,ha. Anyway, please clarify the removal of the quotes, which were well-cited. Thanks.

Here's a possible table: User:Blue Square Thing/sandbox. That will float out to the right and look OK - I think - with the text. If we wanted a more detailed table then I think that would need to wait until the article is more sorted and go towards the bottom of the whole article - rather like footballer articles do (see Teemu Pukki, for example). We have spoken about the idea of using tables like this before at the cricket project but no one has ever had the time to go for it. I might wait on that sort of thing for now though - I think there are other priorities and cricket, with its multiple teams per season, is a little more complex to handle than football. re: the quotes. I don't think thay really added anything. I can live with the ones in the early life section as I think they probably add context (although I think the first one is a bit long really), but the ones in the IPL bit just seemed to be fluff and didn't really add anything to the article other than bulk it out quite a bit. I just don't think they're needed within this article. Blue Square Thing (talk) 10:52, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

The kind of hard work you are doing for the sake if this article is unexplainable. The table is apt and should be included just below the last para of the IPL section.

I think it might float better if placed at the top - you'll see what I mean, but I'll wait for Soutut to give an opinion first. Btw, you might want to take a look at what I wrote at the bottom of User talk:Soutut about some tips for using talk pages... Blue Square Thing (talk) 11:01, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Blue Square Thing, I have been watching all your edits since my last one. I have not interfered to avoid edit conflict. Btw, before replying, I have gone through a number of pages to see where any tabular data is placed. In most of the cases, it is placed at the top of a para or at the top-right corner.--Soutut (talk) 11:21, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Lets give it a try then and see what it looks like. Blue Square Thing (talk) 11:29, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

It looks absolutely flabbergasting. The layout is superb. The fact is unarguable, unquestionable and undeniable that Blue Square Thing, your contribution toward the elaboration, standardisation and development of the article Mohammed Shami beggars description.

Please stop edit warring and take to the talk page. Spike 'em (talk) 12:52, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

We are both at 3 Reverts on the article, any more and it could lead to a block. There is more than 1 person reverting you, so please take notice that trivia (particularly sourced to non-reliable websites) is not desired in the article. Spike 'em (talk) 12:56, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
And how about taking part in the discussion at the article talk page rahter than recruiting other editors to do your dirty work for you. favourite colour / city / pet are mindless trivia, and directly contravene {{WP:NOTGOSSIP]] :Celebrity gossip and diary. Even when an individual is notable, not all events they are involved in are. For example, news reporting about celebrities and sports figures can be very frequent and cover a lot of trivia, but using all these sources would lead to over-detailed articles that look like a diary. Not every facet of a celebrity's life, personal details, matches played, or goal scored is significant enough to be included in the biography of a person. I apologise. I am promising that I will rectify myself from the next time.
