November 2011 edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Funnyfarmofdoom. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit seemed to be less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks, Funnyfarmofdoom (talk to me) 09:37, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   or   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 09:46, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

February 2015 edit

Your addition to List of The Colbys episodes has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Actually the summaries for the first 8 episodes are synopsis written by a fan for a website that is no more of the web. However, the synopsis were taken back here : http://carringtondynasty.wikia.com/wiki/First_Season and here : http://carringtondynasty.wikia.com/wiki/Second_Season It's 75.66.200.144 who copied them in December 2011 without permission. As the rest of the official summaries come from: http://www.tv.com/shows/the-colbys/episodes, it seems logical to use official summaries for all the episodes (as it was prior to December 2011).

I've removed both the wikia and TV.com versions, copyright violations are just not allowed. Feel free to write some new ones in your own words, I will try to sometime in the future.— TAnthonyTalk 16:35, 11 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
And thanks for catching the wikia violation by the way!— TAnthonyTalk 16:35, 11 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dynasty edit

Hi, thanks for your recent edits. How much of your recent adds to Alexis etc. have been lifted from the Dynasty wiki? As we already discussed, taking text directly from another site, even an open wiki, is considered a copyright violation within Wikipedia.

I really do appreciate your desire to improve the Dynasty character articles, which are in varying states of disrepair, but I also wanted to point out that when editing Alexis Colby you removed most of the years noted in the plot sections. Episode names/numbers are great but we have to include the airdates/years whenever possible to provide real world context. Lengthy plot sections written in an in-universe style just invite deletion nominations from editors who aren't supportive of articles on fictional topics.— TAnthonyTalk 17:13, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello Anthony. Actually it's the Dynasty wiki that copied the contents of Wikipedia for the character bios rather than the contrary. However, Wikipedia is sourced in this page : http://carringtondynasty.wikia.com/wiki/Category:The_characters?cb=6272&cb=8949

Yes I'm sure there's been some sharing back and forth, but I just noticed that some of the wording you added was from the Dynasty wiki, perhaps it was here first but altered, etc. I'm not going to obsess about it, I just wanted to make sure you were aware not to copy text from other sites. Also thanks for restoring the dates to Alexis Colby. — TAnthonyTalk 16:06, 23 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
