Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 163.53.144.93. No idea what you think the problem is. Not using any proxy. Have had this IP for a few weeks. 163.53.144.93 (talk) 10:57, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Confirmed p2p proxy. See Template:Blocked p2p proxy for more details. Yamla (talk) 11:01, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I am not using a proxy or VPN. I made an edit a few weeks ago from this IP, what has changed since then? This IP belongs to my ISP, Superloop.au, in Sydney. It is not a VPN. 163.53.144.93 (talk) 11:38, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Please see link Yamla indicated. It is entirely possible that a prior user of your IP was the one with the P2P VPN. However, we can do nothing about this. 331dot (talk) 15:13, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 163.53.144.93. This block has just been renewed after I made one edit. I AM NOT USING A PROXY OR VPN. This bot put me on a block list without providing any proof or any real way to appeal. The response to my appeal on the first ban was that I am on the list. Of course, that is the problem. A real review must ask why.Is this automated opaque list so infallible that it can ban me forever with no recourse? 163.53.144.93 (talk) 02:11, 8 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Procedural decline. As per below, user is no longer interested in an unblock. Yamla (talk) 10:54, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

See the Spur.us report. You are not banned. You've been given instructions on how to bypass this block. --Yamla (talk) 10:29, 8 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

You block my IP, you block me. Should I edit by mailing in a postcard? I tried to look at this "Spur" report, it will not allow me to access any specific information unless I log in with a corporate mail account. Which I do not have. Where are the "instructions on how to bypass this block"? 163.53.144.93 (talk) 00:33, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please reread all parts of Template:Blocked p2p proxy including the link to WP:IPBE. --Yamla (talk) 00:55, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
"Who may request - A user affected by an IP address block that is unrelated to their editing and that prevents them editing with a logged-in account." I'm not using a logged in account. Otherwise, as I said, the "Spur" report just says I have a proxy. I can't get any details of what kind of proxy, what ports it's using, or any other way to track it down.

I have looked at several online proxy checks:

There's nothing more we can do for you. --Yamla (talk) 11:19, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Do you not have a friend with internet access through which you can create an account yourself without providing an email address(though you would be unable to recover your password)? Otherwise there is indeed nothing we can do for you if you don't wish to have a "corporate" email. 331dot (talk) 11:50, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean "don't wish to have a corporate email". I DO NOT WORK FOR A COMPANY. I deeply resent being banned indefinitely with no explanation except "you're on a list". And then being told I have to spend hours of my time and ask favours of acquaintances just to try to find out what the problem I am charged with is. While all the tests I can do indicate there is no proxy. One thing for sure, never ever going to donate a cent to Wikipedia after this abusive treatment. 163.53.144.93 (talk) 04:37, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Whether you donate to Wikipedia or not is your decision, based on whatever criteria you wish to use- we editors have nothing to do with the Foundation's efforts to collect donations and donating or withholding donations has no impact on internal Wikipedia matters like this. The finances of the Foundation are stable as well so it won't seriously hurt them.
I thought when you said "corporate email" you mean any email address domain owned by a large company like Google or Microsoft. You don't have to provide a company email address. You could create a throwaway email address if you don't wish to use a personal email address. 331dot (talk) 09:07, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
No, they specifically reject any free mail addresses. I tried Yahoo and Gmail. Rejected. They want a company email they can spam their ads to. Nice that Wikipedia requires people to subject themselves to that. As for my statement about donations, yeah, I know you aren't paid. But I am getting pretty sick sick of being treated as if I'm guilty of a crime and told I have to prove myself innocent without even knowing the evidence against me. And now my block has doubled in length, I assume it will do so exponentially every time it expires and I am still on the infallible shit list. So since I am not a masochist, I will give up trying to help an organisation that treats me with such contempt. 163.53.144.93 (talk) 10:33, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Very curious, since that didn't happen to me or millions of others. 331dot (talk) 11:00, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
"that didn't happen"? What didn't happen? To "millions"? What on earth are you talking about? ALL I WANT IS TO KNOW WHAT THE EVIDENCE IS AGAINST ME. Instead I get this Kafkaesque runaround and shrugs and dismissive "that didn't happen" remarks. 163.53.144.93 (talk) 05:41, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have had a "free" email address attached to my account for years without a problem, as do millions of other users. I see nothing on WP:ACC stating that free email accounts are a barrier to requesting one. It notes that Gmail accounts may automatically send Wikipedia emails to a non-regular folder, but that's the only caveat there. Wikipedia does not "spam ads"; I have never gotten a single ad from Wikipedia in my many years with this account. Your email address should not be a barrier to you requesting an account.
If you want to know more about the ST47 bot, see User:ST47ProxyBot. As noted on the page Yamla asked you to look at, "If you have not recently used any proxy, VPN, or IP changing service, it is possible that a previous customer who was assigned your IP address was running one of these services." We can do nothing about that, however, and the proper way forward is for you to request an account via WP:ACC as instructed and then request an IPBE for it(WP:IPBE). If something prevents this, it is some other issue that is above our pay grade and we can do nothing about. 331dot (talk) 08:58, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
