Hello 142! (I assume) Please see WP:POSTNOMS for details about the Arbitration Committee's rule relating to style changes. This is the same rule that appplies to other styles with multiple options such as dates, spelling, reference styles, etc. I see that you have changed the style of multiple post-nominal letters when adding the post-nominals letters template. Please ensure that the added template retains the previous style, or as the rule states: "
defer to the style used by the first major contributor". The "first major contributor" isn't related to the template. I have reverted your change to the style at Ernest Nicholson, where you removed "|size=100%|sep=," as this is the established standard used in that article. You have done similar things with other articles but I don't have the time to go through and change them back. Perhaps you could do this? Thank you, Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 13:08, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
- This isn't optional. Please stop changing the established post-nominal styles. For your beefit:
Where this manual provides options, consistency should be maintained within an article unless there is a good reason to do otherwise. The Arbitration Committee has ruled that editors should not change an article from one guideline-defined style to another without a substantial reason unrelated to mere choice of style, and that revert-warring over optional styles is unacceptable.
Where Wikipedia does not mandate a specific style, editors should not attempt to convert Wikipedia to their own preferred style, nor should they edit articles for the sole purpose of converting them to their preferred style, or removing examples of, or references to, styles which they dislike.
- It will just take a little longer for you to do the proper checks, Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 17:59, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Christian comedy, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Walter Görlitz (talk) 18:37, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address.
