Coraline Edit Revert edit

Hello, I am a bit confused by your revert of "recent years" to "retrospective years" - perhaps you can explain further? I don't think "retrospective years" makes any sense whatsoever: it seems like clumsy and imprecise wording. --Inspector Semenych (talk) 21:59, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am a bit confused as to how you were able to make a comment here without having read the edit summary which clearly stated: "Revert good faith copyedit so that I can hopefully cleanly revert the other edit."[1] or without having seen the other changes I made to the article.
I could see that you made a good faith effort to fix some poorly written text. Bad writing in Wikipedia is often a sign of other problems too. I could see that the poorly written text should not have been included at all in the first place because it was making unsourced claims that the film developed a "cult following", the same kind of unsourced claim that many editors frequently add indiscriminately to older film articles. It is possible the claim might be true but it should not have been added to the WP:FILMLEAD without proper sources in the article body first. I don't think "cult following" is necessarily the right way to describe a film that was popular and praised from the time it was released and we could discuss that on the article talk page if the matter requires further discussion.
I hope you looked at the article and saw that after I reverted your edit I then reverted the other edit exactly as I said I was going to do. Mistakes happen, I've had some of my edits reverted too and also not realized at first that other editors were reverting multiple edits and fixing bigger problems. I hope the matter is entirely clear now if you had not already figured it out for yourself. -- 109.78.199.18 (talk) 11:49, 10 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

No problem - a misunderstanding. --Inspector Semenych (talk) 17:20, 10 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
