August 2011 edit

Please do not write an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged - see our guideline Writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedians with articles.) Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. May 2012 edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is invited to contribute, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to King Sejong the Great (TV series), did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. August 2012 edit

Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Oh Yeon-seo. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Also, your edit removed a maintenance template. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Thank you. – Wdchk (talk) 12:11, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but I do not understand your above comment. If you are suggesting we need to discuss at Korean Wikipedia, that is not appropriate. We are discussing the article on English Wikipedia, and the guidelines of English Wikipedia apply. I have reverted your latest edit, and here is a detailed explanation of the reasons:
  • The "Endorsements" section contains no references from reliable sources. As stated at WP:BLP, any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be explicitly attributed to a reliable, published source. Without sources, the article is saying that Oh Yeon-seo has endorsed several products, and there is no way to tell whether this is true or not. You must provide sources, preferably in English, if you wish this section to be included.
  • Without sources or any encyclopedic content, the "Endorsements" section is simply an advertisement for the listed products. Advertisements are not acceptable. To understand what I mean, compare the Oh Yeon-seo article with a mature article such as Tiger Woods. Do you see that the statements in that article's "Endorsements" section are all sourced with in-line citations? Also, it is not just a list of companies and products, but it has encylopedic content: for example, we can learn how much Tiger Woods earns from certain endorsements, or the impact on the brands of being endorsed by Mr. Woods.
  • External links you added do not appear to be acceptable. Please refer to WP:ELNO for more information about links to be avoided. The links I have removed look like fansites to me, but I cannot be completely sure because they are in Korean language. In any case, links to non-English web sites should only be made in exceptional circumstances; see WP:NONENGEL. If you believe these links are acceptable under Wikipedia guidelines, please explain why at Talk:Oh Yeon-seo.
  • You reverted my edit without a clear explanation. Please do not revert without providing an explanation in your edit summary.
  • Following your edit, the article was left with two "Music videos" sections and two "External links" sections. Presumably it was not your intent to duplicate this content. Please preview your edits carefully before saving.
Thank you. – Wdchk (talk) 03:28, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
