About Me

I have been involved with wikipedia for many years, but only recently have actually made it "official" by creating a user name. I am moderately familiar with the policies. As stated here and here, Wikipedia's policies are not made out of stone. I learn from my mistakes and when tags get pulled I appreciate the feedback. It helps me learn what not to do in the future. I would like to point out, that many of my CSD tags don't get pushed back, and my XFD/PROD are often correct as well. Mistakes do happen, and I am willing to learn from them. Please read my personal philosophy on what each level of tagging means in the next section before commenting here. Thank you

Level of Tagging

I consider myself a police officer. I am not an administrator! It is my job to simply look for "criminal" articles and tag them as such. Just as cops are not persecutors or lawyers, I rarely will make the final judgement call and nominate an article for speedy deletion. I will usually tag them so the community can improve them or dump them. I consider this analogous to detaining an article so the community can judge them. Please don't remove my tags unless I am absolutely out of line and you can prove it. Pulling my tags because it's your article is not a valid reason. If you find a valid reason simply post on my talk page a link to the policy I violated and a comment or two. If I agree with you I will respond, if I don't agree with you I will respond. I will try to be courteous and polite and I expect the same.

Level One

Maintenance Tags

1. General Cleanup- The article is sloppy and requires cleanup.
2. Needs References- The article has no references or the references are questionable/not acceptable.
3. Notability- This article may not be notable. This tag may be followed up with a deletion request at a later time.

This is usually a warning so that the user and community are alerted to the article. These tags are common and low level, so please don't remove unless you have fixed the problem or can prove the problem didn't exist. They will not "damage" an article in any way. If tag is removed and I don't believe the problem has been fixed, and/or it hasn't been proven to be fixed, I will re-tag the article. If the tags continue to be removed, I will take more steps.

Level Two

Informal Deletion (Proposed Deletion) (referred to as PROD)

This is the lowest level of deletion hearings. This tag can be removed by anyone. To the author(s) of the article:DO NOT REMOVE THE TAG UNLESS YOU CAN PROVE YOUR ARTICLE DOESN"T MEET THE CRITERIA FOR DELETION This is not your responsibility, unless you can prove it, it is Another User's responsibility. Take a second and think about that, with millions of users on wikipedia, many more informed then I,it is highly likely someone will remove that tag if I am wrong.

If I am right then users will comment on the talk page and your article will receive a fair trial.

The reasons that tag can't be removed, without cause, are

1. I don't learn from my mistakes
2. Others don't learn from their mistakes
3. The community is not allowed to voice their opinion on a possible "criminal" article. This is unfair to Wikipedia.

If the tag is removed without valid reason, I will not repost PROD but rather progress to Level Three.

Rescue

The next two levels of tagging are outside my control to revoke. If the article is worthy of saving, please CALL FOR RESCUE. If the article is poorly written, consider fixing the problem. Also consider contacting the AFD Patrol for help with any problems.

Level Three

Formal Deletion I (Candidate for Deletion) (referred to as XFD)

This is the second highest level of deletion hearings. When tagged, the article is automatically listed on the discussion page for deletion.. The article will reviewed and a consensus will be reached. I cannot remove the tag but I can formally cancel the hearing. However, other users can override my cancel and continue with the discussion. This is outside my control.

Level Four

Formal Deletion II (Candidate for Speedy Deletion) (referred to as CSD)

This is the highest level of deletion hearings. When tagged, an article is nominated to be removed from wikipedia without a trial by the community. Tagged articles are placed here, where an administrator reviews them.

• You can contest the tag by clicking the link. Rollbackers can revert the tag if they think the tag is unjustified. I would appreciate that users who contest these tags copy and paste their reason in my talk page.

• Once tagged an article can be reviewed by an administrator at anytime.

• If the admin agrees with my tag, then the article is deleted. Please do not repost the article. This is a violation of policies and can result in warnings and/or bans.

• If an admin disagrees with my tag, then the article gets saved and my CSD request is bounced back.

Sometimes, admins disagree with my call because the article only meets criteria for Formal Deletion Hearing I. If this is the case, I will tag the article with XFD and open a public discussion.

Warnings

Rarely do I give out warnings. I only give out warnings in the following circumstances:

• The author of the article appeared to deliberately break rules in creating the article.

• The author has removed tags without fixing the problem or justifying the removal.
• The author has been hostile and rude.
• The author has violated policy significant other times.
• The author of the article will be reported to the administrators.

• Additional circumstances may exist and will be noted in all tags and/or warnings.

Once given a warning, a user is on my "watch list". If a user continues to break wikipedia policy, I will gather evidence and report the user to administrators. I rarely rarely will give a second warning but, I may comment on the user's page. Comments are not warnings and should not be considered a formal violation of policy.
