Giovanna da Montefeltro was the wife of Buonconte da Montefeltro, the son of the Ghibelline leader Guido da Montefeltro.

Giovanna da Montefeltro was the wife of Buonconte da Montefeltro. Buonconte da Montefeltro was the son of Guido da Montefeltro and died in battle at Campaldino in the year 1289[1]


Place in the Divine Comedy

Giovanna da Montefeltro is seen in the Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy in Purgatorio 5. When Dante is approached by Buonconte da Montefeltro, Buonconte bemoans how he believes that his wife, Giovanna, and other relatives were not praying for him in his afterlife. That his family members have no concern for him unlike Jacopo who begs Dante for aid.[2]
