Hazer
A term used in battle strategy. A hazer is any Pokémon that uses the move Haze (or others like it) to remove statistical changes of the target Pokémon. A related term, pseudo-hazer or phazer, refers to Pokémon who use the move Roar to accomplish the same goal (by forcing the Pokémon to leave battle).
Pseudo-hazer
also known as a phazer. See Hazer
STAB
An acronym for Same Type Attack Bonus. This is in reference to a boost in an attack's power if the attack's type is the same as the Pokémon using it.
Starters
Used to refer to any of the Pokémon that a player is given at the beginning of the game.
Sweeper
A term used in reference to battle strategy. A sweeper typically has either a very high physical Attack or a very high Special Attack, often coupled with a very high Speed statistic. The idea is to merely couple the high stats with very powerful moves in order to overwhelm to opposition. Many items and secondary moves are used to complement this strategy, like the Choice Band which greatly increases the power of one move but then only permits that single move to be used.
