Yateesh M. Acharya



Yateesh M. Acharya, though more well known as a Ghazal singer, is an accomplished Bhajan singer too. Classically trained he is proficient in Thumari Dadra, Sufi song, Mand, Folk Singing etc. He has been in the field of singing for the last two decades. The talented singer has enthralled music lovers all over India & Abroad through his concerts and audio Albums. Blending his artistic talent with the changing scenario, he has accomplished a difficult task of producing quality Music, Which is success commercially too. His success can be attributed to the fact that he has rich experience in presentation and production of Music. Born in KOTA (Rajasthan),he took early lessons in classical music from Pt J.S. Hada & Pt Mahendra Dixit . Then he also learned from Pt Mahesh chandra Sharma,Ustad Hifzul kabir (Katani),Ustad Sarwat Hussain Khan (Bhopal), Great Ustad Rahat Ali Khan (Gorakhpur), Ustad Iqbal Ahmed khan (Delhi), Ustad Zamir Ahmed Khan Sahib (Muradabad). Endowed with good voice and right aptitude was soon quite good at singing.


Yateesh grew up in Kota(Raj.) and has Masters degrees in Computer application . The son of renowned Poet Shri B.M. ‘Madhur’, Yateesh naturally inherited his Dada & Nana’s musical talents. Later, in his teens, inspired by the songs of Ustad Mehdi Hassan and Ustad Hussain Bux . Yateesh developed a passion for ghazals .He used to put in Seven hours of singing practice everyday. The committed Yateesh also put heart and soul into learning Urdu when he decided to become a ghazal singer. He has perfected his Urdu diction to such standards that even his audiences in Hyderabad, the heartland of the language, have been wowed over. In 1983-84 Yateesh bagged the top prize in the All-India Begum Akhatar competition.

In his early years Yateesh did the concert circuit and also performed on TV. He sang for a number of TV serials, e.g., "Tadap", “Sainik”. In addition, he cut two successful ghazal albums. He sung in South-Hindi Dubbed Film Harishchandra, Ram-Katha, Paduka Pattabhishekam, Navgrah Naykal, Moudri Karan, Om Ganeshay Namah. He is associated with Sufi Hazrat Inayat Khan Memorial Trust as a Music Consultant. He composed Music for various Ghazal Bhajan Albums , Jingles, Documentry Films also. Influence of Ustad Mehdi Hassan Sahib, Ustad Hussain Bux Sahib,Ustad rahat ali khan sahib(Gorakhpur) and his all gurus on his ghazal singing is enormous.
