User:X201/Infobox defunct field cleanup/Year 2 fixes

Mode edit

Currently to guidelines for the mode field of the infobox says that "Playing modes offered by the game. Currently, the only accepted values are single-player, multiplayer, or both." But this

bit of sterling work by

— HELLKNOWZ in 2013 shows that that is far from what is happening.

After scanning 16799 articles helknowz's report shows that there were 2462 different entries for the mode field, 2462 permutations for a field that supposedly has only three possible permutations. There are numerous spellings and redirects of Single Player and Multiplayer, there are other valid fields like Two Player or Alternating Play added and there are explanatory notes like being available on one platform but not another, there are single player and multiplayer separated by slashes and/or line breaks, There's Co-op, ad-hoc, wifi, TCP, modem, 2 player battle, LAN, sharing, campaign, split-screen, etc

This section will require the mother of all clean ups. What I'm proposing in this post is that as a first stage we clear all of the different version of Single Player and Multiplayer and standardise on

Single-player Single-player

Multiplayer Multiplayer

Single-player, Multiplayer Single-player, Multiplayer

By standardising on the above it will make cleaning up the messy ones a lot easier. I doubt anyone will have an objection to this, but if you have let me know.

Media edit

Currently to guidelines for the mode field of the infobox says that "Currently, the only accepted values are "floppy disk", "cartridge", "Compact Cassette", "memory card", "optical disc", "download", "cloud computing", or combinations thereof.".
We actually have 3264 different variations.
We've got CD-ROM, DVD, Blu-Ray, cartridge, 3/6/24 mbit cartridge, ROM cartridge, 1x DVD 6x CD, Hucard, web browser, numerous ways of describing and linking a download version, UMD, Nintendo Optical disc, Steam, GD-ROM, and Punched Tape, to name but a very small selection.

Standardise any combination of CD, CD-ROM, Compact Disc, DVD or DVD-ROM to Optical disc

This would mean removing the number of discs.
