A retired old timer's brief history
Forty-five years in the computer industry. 1959 to 2004. Employed in field service, instructor and all levels of tech support. UNIVAC div Sperry Rand Midwestern Instruments (Later becoming Telex) Potter Instruments Inc StorageTek (STC) Raytheon Service Co TRW CSD Consulting, Novell Networks Brinks IT, retired in 2004 as an un-certified Cisco WAN Specialist. (Why spend $10k for the CNE test when retirement was looming?) As a CNA, I maintained every router and switch in our world-wide network at the latest software level. Including our wireless 802.11 networks and VPN connections.
My years were very enjoyable. I grew up... and old, in this field, watching the technology develop from mechanical to relays to tubes to the present day incredible solidstate sub-micron technology.
