The Czarcze Cipher

edit

The Czarcze cipher is a very challenging cipher to encode and decode. This article explains how to encode and decode it.

Encoding

edit

To transform a sentence into the Czarcze cipher, follow the steps below:

The Caesar cipher explained briefly in picture form.
  1. Use the Caesar Cipher[1] to code the first letter. For example, when encoding "Hello", you would make the first letter K, resulting in Kello.
  2. Make the second letter a number of the order in the alphabet. A = 1, B = 2, and so on. Kello would become K5-llo, because after the first two letters you must add a hyphen. If there is already a hyphen after the first two letters of the word without being encoded (such as up-to-date,) then you must add an en dash (not em dash, but en).
  3. Use the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet next. (L = Lima, last letter of Lima is A, so L is replaced with A.)
  4. Reverse next two letters. (lo = ol, = K5-AOL = Hello)
  5. Repeat for longer words.
