I just stumbled across the page "total olympics medal count" following a link from the winter olympics medal count. I believe this page is one of the worst examples of spin doctoring at Wikipedia. Clearly one must state how often some nation participated before stating how many medals they won. I also support the elegant idea of medal count scores for all pairs of nations (put forth by someone participating in the discussion). I also kind of like the more and more popular idea of inserting the EU medal count in the medal tables (total of all members of the European Union), but I guess not everybody does as the EU medal count blows away all the others.
