I am L. Tracy Winslow, born in Montana in 1926, joined the Navy College Training Program in 1943, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1945 after the end of WWII. I served with the Navy in the Pacific on a troop transport December 1945 to August 1946. I attended UC Berkeley graduate school September 1946 until June 1947. I again served in the Navy on a destroyer during the Korean War and was on board the USS John A. Bole (DD-755) when it became surrounded by over 40 Chinese armed motorized junks near the port of Swatow (Shantou), China, hence my interest in that event.

I was employed as an engineer by Standard Oil Company of California (now Chevron Corporation) from June 1947 until my retirement at the end of 1981, having worked in Richmond, CA; El Paso, TX; Iran, England and Saudi Arabia.

As of August 1, 2014 I am retired in Ashburn, VA.
